It combines the live BTC spot price and multi-timeframe chart with the network's on-chain vitals — mempool depth, current sat/vB fee tiers, halving countdown, Lightning Network capacity, reachable-node distribution, Fear & Greed sentiment, and Bitcoin's share of global proof-of-work energy consumption. It is built and maintained by Bitcoin For Corporations (BFC).
The live BTC spot price and intraday history come from Binance.us (with Coinbase as a fallback), polled every 15 seconds. Market cap, 24-hour volume, and all-time-high data come from CoinGecko every 5 minutes. Longer-range history (1M / YTD / 1Y / 5Y / ALL) is fetched from Binance.us kline endpoints and cached for 30 seconds to 12 hours depending on range, to stay within public rate limits.
All on-chain vitals — block height, hash rate, difficulty, mempool depth, sat/vB fee tiers, halving countdown, mined supply, Lightning Network capacity — are pulled server-side from mempool.space's public API, refreshing every 30 seconds. Reachable-node counts and Bitcoin Core version distribution come from bitnodes.io. The Fear & Greed Index comes from alternative.me.
Fee tiers (Next Block / 30 Min / 1 Hour+) come directly from mempool.space's recommended-fees endpoint in sat/vB. The USD-equivalent per-transaction estimate assumes a typical 140-vByte single-input, two-output SegWit (P2WPKH) transaction — real fees scale linearly with your transaction's size, so a 10-input consolidation will cost several times more.
Bitcoin's annual electricity consumption is derived live from the network's current hash rate multiplied by a 30 J/TH fleet-wide efficiency figure — the Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index's (CBECI) rolling midpoint estimate for the installed mining fleet. That is compared against an aggregate published estimate of roughly 8 TWh/yr for all remaining non-BTC proof-of-work chains combined (Litecoin, Dogecoin, Kaspa, Monero, Ethereum Classic, Bitcoin Cash, ZCash). After Ethereum's Merge in September 2022 collapsed ~85 TWh/yr from the PoW total, Bitcoin now accounts for roughly 95% or more of all proof-of-work electricity consumed globally.
The Bitcoin protocol cuts the block subsidy in half every 210,000 blocks — roughly every four years. The countdown shows the number of blocks remaining until the next halving, an estimated calendar date based on the network's 10-minute average block time, the current epoch's mining progress, and the current-vs-post-halving block reward in both BTC and USD terms. The next halving after April 2024 (which cut the reward to 3.125 BTC) is projected for spring 2028, when the subsidy will drop to 1.5625 BTC per block.
